Despite attempts to revitalize its value through upgrades on the Sepolia testnet, ETH has continued to decline. Coinbase Sells 12,652 ETH in Q4 – Despite Ethereum Price Jump By 7%

Coinbase, one of the biggest crypto exchanges, reportedly sold 12,652 Ethereum (ETH) in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to Standard Chartered’s Geoffrey Kendrick. This sale, worth about $25 million at today’s prices, has sparked discussions on whether Coinbase is strategically selling ETH for profit rather than holding it long-term. Kendrick analyzed Coinbase’s quarterly reports and found that the exchange holds ETH in different categories, including investment and operational funds. He noted that Coinbase tends to buy when ETH prices are low.

Ether Spot ETFs in U.S. Saw $358 Million Outflows

Spot ether (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the U.S. experienced an 11th consecutive day of net outflows, losing approximately $358.1 million in investor funds. The price of ether fell by nearly 7% during this period. BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) saw $12.9 million of outflows on Tuesday, contributing to a net loss of $137.6 million over the period. Fidelity’s FETH and Grayscale’s ETHE were also significant contributors to the total outflow. Despite these outflows, spot ether ETFs still hold around $7 billion worth of the cryptocurrency and have seen a cumulative net inflow of $2.45 billion since their inception in July. The price of ether fell from around $2,150 on March 8 to around $1,990 as of Thursday, and it has lost roughly 40% of its value year-to-date.
